Abstract The Auditory Perception Test for the Hearing Impaired (APT/HI) was developed to aid teachers and clinicians in evaluating the hearing impaired student' s ability to auditorily decode the spoken language, developing individual auditory skills training programs for the student; and measuring the student's progress in auditory skills training. The APT/HI was pilot tested on 118 students in Florida and California. Validity and reliability of the instrument were established.
